Certamen Boy

I'm pretty sure Robbo has one of these. Somewhere.

After this post, he needs to pull it out, polish it up and wear it with pride!

Totally busted! I loved Certamen in high school and went to several local, state and national JCL meets!

Shameful admission: I was elected secretary of the Nebraska JCL.

Aieeeeee.

Heh. Not to sonare my cornu, but I've got you both beat. I'll need to dig around in the attic to find and scan the evidence, but I am certain I won first place in Texas in Latin reading comprehension at the 1986 TJCL Latin convention (held in Round Rock, Texas, iirc, when it was just a little suburb of sleepy hippy Austin).

And look where it's got us all!

My specialty was actually Latin Lit but I also handled history for my Certamen team. I know I won some local and state stuff and placed at nationals, but can't remember what.

As far as office-holding, I never rose higher than Prez of my school's Latin Honor Society. My sole jobs were a) to make sure we got cool shirts and b) to organize our turn to paint the giant paper banner the fuh-ball team burst through on Friday evening.
