This afternoon I had the pleasure of speaking briefly with our beloved Kathy. While she is toughing it out in true dignified Cake Eater fashion, she is not feeling that well at the moment. The catheter that was inserted last week has developed an infection. She is presently on antibiotics and hopes to resume regular posting as soon as she is able.

And since we have spent much more than our share in medical hell we are over-qualified in saying this: nurses and doctors don't know everything - they just pretend that they do. There is, after all, a reason as to why it is called the "Practice" of medicine. Do what feels best and works for you and tell them to go jump in a lake. They hate it when a patient gets testy - and even more when the patient shows more sense and knowledge than they do, but it's time we patients take the power back. After all - we're the "customer" -- not a money-generating unit although they seem to feel that way. Nurse Ratchet is alive and being cloned in Florida. We'll try to stop the exporting, but think we're too late.
Hope that you are laughing or at least know you aren't alone in your experiences! You made me laugh so hard over your Christmas experiences.
